1) TPS Heaters

Affordable and versatile thermosiphon coolant preheaters for small engines for weather-protected applications. Thermosiphon technology utilizes natural convection: the heating element warms the fluid; the warmed fluid expands and rises, circulating through the system and cooling in the process; then it becomes heavier, and gravity pulls it back down for another heating cycle. TPS heaters can heat water or coolant mix, but require vertical installation. TPS models are available with power rating up to 2000 watts and for engines with displacement of up to 700 cubic inches (11.5 liters).

2) Weathertight Thermosiphon Heaters

CB, SB, CL, SL, and WL heaters are compact, low-maintenance thermosiphon devices primarily designated to heat coolant mix. They can be mounted horizontally, vertically, or horizontally at an angle.

Weathertight Thermosiphon

CB & SB Heaters

CB and SB models have power ratings up to 2500 watts. They are suitable for small engines with up to 800 cubic inches (13.1 liters) displacement. SB models come with a power cord; CB models are to be hardwired.

CL & SL Heaters

CL and SL models provide advanced heating in the same compact design. Power ratings of SL heaters are from 3000 to 4000 watts and for CL heaters are 3000 to 5000 watts. These models will be great for medium-sized engines. Engine displacement ratings: CL heaters — from 800 to 1350 cubic inches (13.1 – 22.1 liters), SL heaters — from 800 to 1650 cubic inches (13.1 – 27.0 liters). SL models come with a power cord; CL models are to be hardwired.

3) Thermosiphon Heaters for Hazardous Locations

EE models are coolant mix heaters approved for hazardous locations (North American Listed Class 1, Group D components).

This model line includes 1 and 3-phase configurations with power ratings from 1500 to 5000 watts suitable for engines with displacement from 500 to 1650 cubic inches (8.2 – 27.0 liters). Just like weathertight thermosiphon heaters, EE heaters can be installed horizontally, vertically, or horizontally at an angle. No power cord, so these heaters need to be wired directly into the main electrical system.

4) HOTflow Heaters

HOTflow forced circulation engine heaters relay on a build-in pump to move preheated coolant evenly throughout the engine. These heaters need less heating cycles compared to thermosiphon heaters, resulting in less energy consumption and longer heater life. The family includes CTM, CKM, and CSM models. All models are suitable for weather-protected applications and can heat water or coolant mix. HOTflow heaters are ideal for standby generators for emergency power systems were full load is required within seconds.

HOTflow Forced Circulation

CTM Heaters

CTM models: small engines with up to 1200 cubic inches (20 liters) displacement; power ratings are up to 2500 watts; require vertical installation.

5) EVRHEAT Heaters

EVRHEAT forced circulation model line was created with precise temperature control in mind. Its sensors and controls respond to a change in coolant temperature as tiny as just one degree.

These heaters feature integrated pump for even heat distribution and LED display with status indicators. Efficient power management of EVR20 models allows up to 45% energy savings in compare to thermosiphon heaters, and up to 20% energy savings even in comparison to CTM heaters. EVR20 heaters are suitable for small engines with up to 1200 cubic inches (20 liters) displacement. Model line-specific features: up to 2500 watts power ratings, vertical mounting only, IP66 system ingress.

6) In-Block Heaters

Hotstart offers immersion in-block coolant heaters for most leading makes and models of heavy-duty truck engines such as Caterpillar, Cummins, Detroit Diesel, Deutz, John Deere, Mack, Perkins, and others. The in-block heaters are designed in push-in, thread-in, and plate-type styles for direct installation into the water jacket of the engine block. Hotstart offers selection tool that allows to chose the heater based on engine manufacturer and model.

7) Lube Oil Immersion Heaters

OW and OE heaters are engineered to heat lubrication and gear oil. OW models are weathertight. OE models are suitable for hazardous locations (Class I, Group D). Both OW and OE heaters thread directly into the engine oil pan. Choose a heater of OW or OE model for small and medium oil tanks up to 30 gallons (113 liters) and in applications required heating power ranging from 50 to 500 watts. Please keep in mind that for heating oil of medium weight viscosity (such as gear oil), Hotstart recommends using heaters with low watt density.

8) Industrial Immersion Heaters

For heavy-duty industrial applications, select one of E-Series models. This line of Hotstart heaters is the most versatile. Available configurations include weathertight and hazardous location modifications, 1-phase or 3-phase, from 750 watts to 36 kilowatts, NTP thread or V-clamp fitting, and for oil capacity from 30 gallons (113 liters) to 90 gallons (341 liters) and more. Most popular E-Series models are available to buy online, but please call or email us if you are interested in high-wattage and high-capacity heaters.

How to identify your model: Weathertight E-Series heaters can handle not just oil, but a wide range of industrial liquids including hydraulic fluid, water, coolant mix, antifreeze, and asphalt. Weathertight E-Series heaters have "W" in the middle of their part number, for example: E0101W-156A-00. Hazardous location heaters can additionally heat diesel fuel and petroleum products. Hazardous location E-Series models have "E" in the middle, for example: E0101E-156A-00.

9) Heating Pads for Oil and Fuel Tanks

Important: These silicone pads are designed for liquid vessels — oil pans, fuel tanks, and hydraulic reservoirs. They are not for batteries. For battery heating, see section 10 below. Both product types look similar, so please confirm your application before ordering.

For a small metal oil pan, water or diesel fuel tank, or hydraulic oil reservoir where drilling or penetrating its walls is impractical, go with Hotstart AF model silicone heating pads. They can be installed easily by peeling-and-sticking. Such external installation minimizes the risk of fluid leaks and prevents direct contact between the heating element and sensitive oils. Silicone pads provide heating power up to 400 watts and come in sizes: 4 by 5, 5 by 6, and 6 by 8 inches.

11) Hotstart JBC Control Systems

Control systems (junction boxes) provide fast, efficient installation for Hotstart engine heaters. All Hotstart heaters with thermostat, operating on 3-phase current (at any voltage), require the use of a control system with a 3-pole contactor. All Hotstart heaters with thermostat, operating over 480V (1 or 3-phase) require a control system to reduce the primary voltage to 120V for the control circuit. Using a control system on all heaters above 277V will increase thermostat life.
